Business Studies

Teaching focuses on examination success. This is achieved through the acquisition of knowledge, examination technique and thinking skills. The teachers are experts in their respective fields; they teach their students the information they need in the form that they need it.

Business Studies

The Business Studies course enables students to develop their entrepreneurial skills. They learn how businesses operate and will apply key theories to real businesses.

The course is based on 4 modules. Unit 1 and 2 is covered at AS level and unit 3 and 4 is covered at A2 level. The units consist of;

Module 1 – Planning and Financing a Business
Module 2 – Managing a Business
Module 3 – Strategies for Success
Module 4 – The Business Environment and Managing Change


Students who join the Business Studies course want to, after attending university, set up their own business or would like to work for a big organisation. Either way, students will develop a number of useful skills that they can use at University and at work.

The course is taught using a combination of PowerPoint presentations and group discussions, Students will explore modern world businesses and will be given the opportunity to prepare presentations which will develop their communication skills.

This excellent achievement by Abbey College London’s students and staff is also set within the context of the College focusing on mathematics, sciences and economics; in other words what are regarded by many, including the top universities, as the traditional, more difficult A-levels.
